Dream Garden Venue on Vancouver Island
If you're dreaming of a wedding that feels romantic, relaxed, and completely unforgettable, let me introduce you to one of the most enchanting luxury venues on Vancouver Island: Bilston Creek Lavender Farm.
Located in Metchosin, just outside of Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island, this local farm has become a trendy location for events, artisan markets and upscale weddings with a west coast vibe blended with “Magnolia Homes”.
With seasonal glamping tents and a well designed guest house, barn and event space surrounded by the forest, Bilston Creek Farm is perfect balance of luxury and nature. It’s a photographer’s dream with curated lavender fields, golden light for your evening reception, and a gorgeous barn that comes alive for you and your guests to dance and celebrate.
From the moment I heard of this venue, it has been on my “must do photography bucket list” and this past summer I was blessed with the chance to photograph a stunning wedding.
I had the opportunity to work as the assistant second photographer for lead wedding photographer Kim Jay of Kim Jay Weddings, who is a wonderfully talented artist. I am forever grateful for her sharing such a gorgeous wedding experience for me to assist with.
As you can see by the moments I captured here, this wedding was a stunner, and made the most of every detail imaginable to make this dream venue come alive for their perfect day.
Why Bilston Creek Is One of the Island’s Most Magical Wedding Venues
Set on acres of coastal forest with a blanket of lavender fields, apple orchard and wide open grassy gathering spaces, Bilston Creek is a venue that truly captures the west coast rustic elegant vibe. It feels romantic, fresh, and wildly beautiful for everything that they host from spring through fall. Visitors are welcome at the farm during their seasonal operations when they aren’t hosting weddings or private events.
The lavender is in full bloom from late June through August, making for the dreamy backdrop that everyone loves best.
Their huge barn is laid out with endless bundles of lavender from floor to ceiling, making for a stunning display, and scent for your guests.
The event planners brought in all of the cozy living room furniture and floral displays to enhance the barn for the wedding guests to enjoy.
Once you see the photos below if you are in love like I am with this farm, all I can say is ohhhhh PICK ME as your photographer if you are planning to make this your dream wedding spot!

Every corner of this property offers a stunning backdrop, and every shift of light creates new opportunities to capture your day in a way that feels effortless, heartfelt, and timeless.

A little more about this wedding
Chelsea and Matt chose Vancouver Island for their destination wedding as they travelled here with friends and family and wanted everyone to have a vacation experience, though relatively close to their Washington state hometown. Bilston Creek was the perfect resort-like venue to fullfill their destination wedding dream.
They chose Kim Jay Weddings as their photographer to capture the magic of their celebration throughout the weekend and her work for them was stunning.
The photos I am sharing are my second shooter viewpoints that I captured.
One of my favorite moments to photograph was the Groom and Groomsmen getting ready in the barn basement. The bar-style spotlights and burlap ceiling made the whole space look ruggedly perfect for some unique getting ready photos. As the second photographer, it was my primary task to capture the groomsmen candid moments while the main photographer was with the bride and bridesmaids.
As the ceremony approached, we stepped out into the forest trails for an intimate first look between the bride and groom. The emotion-filled first look, where everything else fades away except the two of you, its one of my favourite moments to photograph at weddings.
As a family photographer, I have really leaned into the candid, real moments that happen at weddings, especially when children and guests are getting in on the fun.
Your wedding is about those who share it WITH you so it’s important to me to include your guests in your images too.
Bilston Creek has so many fun elements including
swings
yard games
tractors
flower fields
And endless opportunities for great photos, and your wedding is sure to be very memorable.
The Reception
As the evening kicked off with speeches and an amazing locally inspired family-style catered dinner in the orchard, you could see the joy from all of the guests who were a part of this one of a kind wedding experience.
Wrapping up with dancing under the stars beside the lavender fields, this wedding was simply beautiful from start to finish. Thank you Kim Jay Photography for inviting me to share this dream wedding photo experience.

The Feeling You’ll Come Back To
My goal isn’t just to take beautiful photos. It’s to make you feel something every time you look back on them. If Bilston Creek Farm is the venue where your love story comes to life, I would be honored to tell it — with warmth, care, and an eye for all the details that make it yours.
If you're dreaming of wedding day photos that blend natural beauty with a timeless sense of celebration, candid close ups and real moments that showcase how your day felt, we might be a great fit to work together.
And while the venue is undeniably magical on its own, it’s the way your day is captured that will keep it alive for decades to come.
I’d love to hear from you.
